An American family were on holiday travelling around Europe, when they spent a few days at a hotel in Paris. After spending the first day sightseeing, they returned wearily to their hotel room, only to find it had been broken into. After a frantic search to find out what had been taken, they realised with astonishment that nothing was missing. The only thing strange was that the spare camera had been taken out its case and left on the bed, and all their toothbrushes were lying in the sink. The father reported the break in to the Hotel Manager, and the family were relocated to another room. The Manager gave his apologies and told them that the Bellboy was seen leaving their room. He went on to explain that it had been the Bellboy's last day and that he was probably trying to play a prank, he probably got disturbed in the act and left the room.

The American family went on to enjoy the rest of their trip around Europe, and thought nothing more of the Paris incident until they got home. When their photos were developed, they looked at them in disgust. At least ten of the photos were of the Bellboy taking pictures of himself in the Bathroom's mirror of the Hotel room. In each photo he was naked, grinning, and had one of their toothbrushes rammed firmly up his bum!

Summary

This story is enough to make anyone cringe. I am sure I don't have to tell you that the American family must have cleaned their teeth with these toothbrushes throughout the whole trip, oblivious to where they had been! This story does have other versions, but they normally involve an American family, and the hotel is normally in Paris. Why Paris? I suppose the French are an easy target, with the stereotyping of the French being unfriendly and having a low tolerance attitude towards foreigners (especially the Americans!).

Final Thoughts

This UL is a typical 'happened to a friend of a friend'; with most people believing it actually happened. I am not saying it didn't happen, and I would say that this story is quite believable. Other versions of this UL have been set in the Rocky Mountains of Canada, and most recently an American family holidaying in Mexico.
