Project 2067: Book Description

Urban Legends Uncovered started life as a self-published book titled 'Project 2067: Urban Legends' (Hence the name of the web site), and was first published in 2005. I signed a contract in 2006 for Summersdale Publishing to publish the book. The book was given a new name and cover design. I have re-investigated a lot of the urban legends to bring them up to date, and in general the book is more slick and polished.

The book follows my own investigation as I wade through the murky waters of Urban Legends, probing the questions of where and when they came from and why they exist. The answers to these questions are barely straightforward but often surprising. Urban Legends are used as government propaganda and have been used as a clever marketing tool by companies who understand and realise their potential. On a more sinister note, they can be used to destroy and discredit rival companies.

The book is split into categories such as Horror, 9/11, Netlore, Animals & Pests, etc. Each Urban Legend has been given it's own unique code that can be used to fast track extra information on this website.

The format of Urban Legends Uncovered is unique and easy to read, designed to reflect the huge cult following of Urban Legends on the web. My investigation findings are concluded after each urban legend in a no nonsense bite sized chunk that is more accessable than the usual academic books.

Urban Legends Uncovered works on many levels. It can be read from start to finish, following investigation's progress as I delve deeper and deeper into the sinister world of urban legends, or by randomly reading different urban legends as each one works well as a standalone short story.

So, you have the best of both worlds. A book to read on a rainy Sunday afternoon, or as a collection of short stories that can be put down and picked up, making the book a perfect travel companion.
